Harry Potter 2.17 version

Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone turned 20 this year.

and JK Rowling released a limited edition Hogwarts House cover for the first book.

*bite nails*

I. LOVE. IT!

but that doesn't mean that I'm gonna buy it. House Pride or not.

I mean, If I were to succumb to this madness, my collection would look like this

LOOK. AT. IT.

but I'm not gonna.

It's pretty and I LOVE the scarf colored paper edges! argh! but

(there are going to be a lot of butt in this post)

let's be rational here.

If I were to have all four houses color, have them in paper back AND hard cover, it's just going to be like having 8 (NINE! if we include the copy I already have) copies of the same book!

its riddikulus!

wait. actually, I would've have 10. coz I have that big book with pictures version of the Philosopher's Stone book. :p

The point is, I think I have enough Harry Potter collection;
the complete series

I read book 1-4 from my High School library. I only bought my copies when I started working.
I got book 5 as a bday gift from my sister.
and book 6-7 I bought on the released date. by this point, I was an addict. Harry Potter fanatic.

and the on going illustration version of this series, by Jim Kay which I think come out once a year?

I think getting my hands on Jim Kay version would be ok. although same story but at least this version is full of colors and illustration. ;)

and speaking of 'Have enough Harry Potter collection', don't get me started on the amount of Merchandises I have on this franchise.
Keychains,
Mugs,
Journals,
Phonecase,
DVDs,

and also, to those who keep suggesting I buy the Hogwarts Library collection

No, thank you.
it's pretty but really, no.

it's because I already have mine from 8/10 years ago.

and let's not get me started on how Harry Potter isn't my only obsessions!

I have Stationery, Kpop, Tupperware, BOOKS in general, Journals! obsessions to name a few.

I don't have money growing of trees, dammit!

I need to find a new hobby and obsession that don't involve spending money :P

anyway,
there goes my little rant.
but I'm pretty sure, if I had the money, I would've spent them on the-old-book-with-a-new-cover books in a heartbeat.

*shrug*

OH!
was browsing bookdepository.com for that House covered version and found below

I mean, how many version can you make?

P/S: Ms. Rowling, that is not a challenge, please don't answer by making any new ones. I am not a rich person nor do I have a rich parent to support me with my Harry Potter addiction. thank you.

Extra note: Images without 'Penniless Crime' are not mine, found them via Google, credit to respective owners. the screenshot from bookdepository is cropped and edited by me.

pending Project DIY no. 1

as the title,
this project is still pending.

I finally began this one like, 4 weeks ago.
I watched tons of tutorials on youtube for this one, as you may already know
and I thought I'm all set.
but since it involves some unfamiliar/fumed materials, it didn't go as smoothly as I thought it would.

first I painted my clear case pink.
it actually some red paint mixed with white coz I don't have pink colored paint :P

and while I waited for the paint to dry, I cut off some 'desired' pictures.

kalau bukan cOnew, sapa jua lagi? ahahah

I was using acrylic paint, so I know that would take ages to dry

so i move on to the next step; making my 'whipped cream'.

I used 100% silicone mixed with a purple oil paint.

this picture was taken after I mixed the silicone with the paint.
look at that mess ;P

previously (like few months ago), I tried using acrylic paint but the silicone hardened too quickly and became difficult to work with.
I read somewhere on Instagram, saying that some silicone don't work with acrylic paints. so other alternative was to use oil paint or food coloring.
So, that's why I am using oil paint this time around.

I tried them out on a piece of paper, using a baking piping tools.

looks legit, right?

here's some more 'practice' I did

different icing cap gives different shape, of course.

they stink, btw. the silicone. So, I had to work on a well ventilated area a.k.a. i have to open my window, turned off aircond, and turned on the ceiling fan.

I know it took forever for the silicone to fully dry, and by the time that I'm about to make a second batch of the 'whipped cream', it was night time and I can not have my window open during night time (for some cultural beliefs).

So, tergendala lah my project.

I made layout for future use.

I bought the SHINee colored decodens from ebay a long time ago. I glued crystal around the edges coz I love sparkles. the bottle cap thingy was from my purchased at Daiso, Miri. (I love Daiso!).
I haven't figured out how to layout the whipped cream; full or just the edges and under the decodens?

anyway,
I meant for the project to resume the next weekend but I had wedding to attend to the next Sunday, then the next Sunday nya lagi I went Miri (to buy my Faceshop! will share pictures on nanti punya post) and now, too tired to start anything. LOL

you'll be the first to know when I finish with it. ;)

although, this case look awesome already without the whipped cream.

what do you think?

DIY progress

Well, not really a progress.
more like, a start.
LOL

I posted some times ago that I wanted to DIY my phone cases using fake whipped cream with decodens.

Eg:

I bought the 'decodens'.

I couldn't buy the fake whipped cream online coz apparently I couldn't 'bring' liquid substance into the country via mail (I don't really know how the immigration works but that's what I understand).

So I ended up making my own (following instruction from youtube videos) fake whipped cream
and that didn't really work out (coz I think I put too much of a certain ingredient into the mixture).

I made the above casing and let it dry for at least 3 days but on the 4th day, the 'clay' part pilled off the case and broke into two.
So, that was the end of my whipped-cream-design case.
I have not try to make a new batch coz I sayang to waste the rest of my air dry clay. LOL nanti tah, when I rajin to experiment. again.

So, I moved on to my second idea of DIY case; Bedazzled!

I bought the square shaped 'beads' from ebay. I was trying to remake the above picture.

But I missed calculated (coz the above picture was for iphone 5, my phone is 6plus) thus I have to rethink of the lay out and came out with this:

I used normal, school craft glue to stick all the bedazzled thingy. took me at least 4 weekends on this. I don't know how long the glue will hold the bedazzled for but so far (I've been using the phone case for 2 weeks?) only 3 tiny dots of beads fell off. so, i guess that's a good sign, right? I didn't think the glue could hold it that long.

Now, I am moving on to my third DIY style; colored/designed paper style phone case.

Went shopping with my sister yesterday (hunting for tudung actually but I'm a woman. I buy things even when I don't need them :P hahaha) and I was looking for Mod Podge at Shabby Chic (an artsy/crafty shop for creative individuals).

it really is just another Craft Glue thingy but with stronger adhesive/effect.
they were out of stock but i found this

the sales lady told me this will make the same effect as the mod podge. I hesitated and put the thing back on its shelf and went to see what my sister was up to.
She was looking for some crafty design papers. they were on sales (everything was on sales in that shop, for krismas); 10 pieces and above and the paper will be $1 each. (normal price ranges from $1.60 to $2.90 each).
"Good bargain," my sister said.
Since I was trying to make another DIY case design, i decided to follow suit.
and boy did I ever.

I bought 11 pieces + a sticker type paper with alphabet and numbers on it.
and when i was about to pay, i ran to the back of the kadai and finally just took the mod podge wanna-be. it was like 'now or never' moment. LOL

So now, I'm thinking of how to put them all together. I was even thinking about cutting off some of my SHINee photos from their album photobooks. I don't know. I haven't quite figure it out yet.

but one thing for sure, I'll be sharing my finished products here.

and maybe make something out of this 'findings'

a/n: hmm..what do you know, a slow progress is still a progress.
