a quick recap and info: I was rereading my Skin Care Update post and I saw that I said that I'm going to post something on Make-Up "next". I have not forgotten about it, I just, keep putting it on hold, cost the picture preparation for that is overwhelming to me. LOL but I assure you, that post is coming.
For now, I wanted to share this superstitious I just learned about Rainbow.
My fellow blogger friend posted a double rainbow pictures and I was reminded of that superstitious incident.
I was walking out of my office, halfway meeting a friend, when I saw the rainbow and excitedly pointed at it, gasping, "Rainbow!"
picture dated: 17th June 2019.
and she said to me, in urgency, "Baik ko isap tu jari mu ah!" Direct translation: You must suck on that finger. (Get your head out of the gutter LOL!)
I looked at her scandalously, "Why?"
but the thing is, I forgot what she answered me with.
๐๐๐
No, no. I'm not dismissing her beliefs. We both Malays and I have never heard of that before. Or maybe I have but have forgotten about it.
So, naturally, I'm curious.
why must I suck on my finger after I pointed at the rainbow? and the way my friend was instructing me to, it was like, I shouldn't have pointed at it in the first place and sucking on the finger is like a counter-measure thing to offset my doings. or something.
so now, I have another question: why can't I point at a rainbow?
๐ค๐ค๐ค
I have my own theory(ies) tho:
1. we shouldn't have pointed at anything in general. You know, coz it's considered rude.
2. what if we TERpoint arah 'invisible being' and they got offended and we got cursed? I know, this theory is soooooo melayuuuuu~~
3. these words formed in my head after I asked why: "Karang putus jari mu" direct translation: Later, lose your finger. ๐ค
4. Leprechaun. Cauldron full of Gold. ๐๐๐๐งก
hahaha that fourth one is a joke! I don't have any other theories.
I shall asked this friend tomorrow if I see her.
for the time being, what do you think is the reason? Do any of my theory make sense?
share your thoughts in the comment box below.
. . .
Wahahahaha those theories are very Indonesian too!! :O Pointing index finger at people is a huge no no! I don't know why, I think I will never know and I unconsciously feel really uncomfortable when I point at someone or when someone point at me. :| But if it is related to something that will make us lucky, perhaps I will do it! Hahahaha. Just like putting fallen eyelash to our hair superstitious, or cutting nails at night superstitious. XD
ReplyDeleteomg yes! about the eyelashes and cutting nails at night. I guess we are connected culturally, somehow xD
