Udah drg kn 'split' ani, banyak plang post ku on Westlife.
dude, I did post about them (
many) once in (
many) while.
ahaha
and today's post was actually made on August 19, 2011. I only managed (or should I say, 'only rajin') to copy and paste this here. It was first drafted on my phone. xD
I had the idea roaming inside my head for awhile until I couldn't stand it and drafted it on my phone. I planned on posting it a couple/ few days later but I didn't. (nama nya jua inda rajin..apa kn daya...LOL!)
So, here I am today. comparing my beloved in my own opinion and on what i've observed so far. and I noticed I was comparing them based on their live performances (mainly vocally) only.
here goes;
Onew vs. Shane
best of them lead vocalist. esp during live performances. It's like you're hearing them straight off the records.
Effortless. and when singing classical songs (Onew singing trot while Shane sang that RapPack album) their voices change into deep ones.
Jonghyun vs. Mark
lead vocal. again, with live performances. Studio version, their voices were so amazing and captivating. Both have unique singing ability. Have some kind of 'soul' vibe to it.
But during live performances, as good as their vocal go, it still wavers and
a bit off sometimes. Markie has improved a lot over the years (duhh..ten years in the business with thousands of sold out concerts, what do you think?!) and I'm sure Jonghyun will be too as he progresses.
Key vs. Bryan
(yes, I'm referring to the 5-membered Westlife)
they're
not one of the best out of the five
but they still
sing more lines than the other two that i havent mention. their key/tone of voice change depending on the music/feel/mood of a song.
Minho - Kian
Kian
hardly sings but he covered Bryan's part when Bryan's not around. Minho hardly sings; he mostly rap. Both
CAN sing. Obviously or they wouldnt be in there in the first place, would they? Not as great as Key or Bryan but they still
can carry a tune.
Taemin - Nicky
I can not compare dancing here coz (
heck!) the world knows that Westlife is
NOT a dancing group. They do dance on tour but that can't be compared to SHINee style of dancing, can it?
Thus, we moved on. Both has that
husky kinda voice going on and actually
can pull off tunes better than Minho or Kian. The only major diff is that Taemin was/is given the opportunity to do alot of lines (esp in their Japanese releases) while Nicky was hardly given any. So, Taemin's singing is so much better than Nicky. although, if our Nico was given the same opportunity, he'd be just as good or maybe even better (given the advantage of him being in the business for more than a decade). I just wish them writers and producers of Westlife will give Nico (and Kino) more lines to sing.
I love both groups.Love Westlife more for I've known them the longest and they've been a part of me since the beginning of my teen years. They are a part of me, forever.
Not loving SHINee any less to be comparing them with Westlife but
hoping they'd be as great as Westlife in their own way. If Westlife is great for their music/voice/melody, I hope SHINee will be too thru their music/dancing of their own style.
Though I hope no one in SHINee is gonna leave the group coz that's be like, super deja vu moment for me and the devastation would be huge (or not since I've been thru it once, I'm sure I'm gonna be able to handle it the second time around).
